UK PROPERTY MARKET POST AUTUMN BUDGET 2025
Published 3rd December
Here’s how people in the UK property sector - and buyers/sellers - seem to be feeling now that the dust is settling after the recent Autumn Budget 2025.
The mood is a mix of cautious optimism, relief, and lingering caution.
What’s feeling more positive
So, for many buyers, sellers and homeowners who were waiting, there’s a sense of “OK — now we can get on with things.”
If you have a property with land, with or without equestrian facilities, please contact Equus using the web site online Valuation Tool or simply telephone or e-mail us on 01892 829014 / [email protected] for one of the Partners to come and value your property.
The mood is a mix of cautious optimism, relief, and lingering caution.
What’s feeling more positive
- The main upside is that uncertainty has largely lifted. Many buyers and sellers who were on hold while waiting for the Budget are now coming back into the market
- According to one major property-portal group, the number of offers and completed deals “more than doubled” in the first days after the Budget, compared with the same period last year — a clear sign that some of the “freeze” ahead of the Budget is thawing.
- Price data suggests the broader market is holding up: as of the latest indexes, house prices dropped during the current year in the South East / London regions but rose slightly in the North, the South West is stagnating as there are more properties for sale than buyers (second home coming to market). But these are all general statistics from across all UK regions and as always with the properties Equus sell, are totally unique and do not necessarily reflect what is happening nationally.
- Analysts see the Budget as a “benign” result overall for the market — tax changes landed more gently than some of the more dramatic speculation had feared.
